Oskar Mielczarek de la Miel manages the Rakuten Fintech Fund, working with financial technology start-ups in North America, Europe and Asia, and in close cooperation with Rakuten’s various financial services units. Oskar has extensive experience in the financial industry, including investment banking and capital markets while at JP Morgan and Merrill Lynch, private equity and retail financial services in North America and Europe.
Rakuten Fintech Fund’s investments include WePay, a payments provider for online marketplaces, Currency Cloud, a next-generation payments engine, Insikt, a white label loan origination platform, BlueVine, an online factoring solution, Acorns, a millenial investment platform, Azimo, a global remittance disrupter, Kreditech, an international lending platform, and Upstart, a data-driven lending platform for millenials.
In addition, Oskar has led Rakuten’s investments in the ride-sharing economy, including two regional leaders: Cabify, operating in Spain and Latin America, and Careem, in the Middle East and North Africa. Oskar serves as a board member for both companies.
Oskar earned his MBA at Harvard Business School and his BA at ICADE in Spain.
