Michael is the Chief Scientific Officer at Q-CTRL. Michael has worked at Q-CTRL since its first month of operation (6 years), where he has led the quantum scientists and engineers. Q-CTRL is accelerating the pathway to quantum computing advantage and ruggedizing quantum sensors for deployment in real environments through infrastructure software. Q-CTRL’s quantum computing education software has over 14,000 users, and its infrastructure software is the chosen control solution for quantum computers available on IBM Cloud. Q-CTRL is working with the Australian Department of Defence to deliver a quantum-assured navigation solution and with Transparent Earth to deliver a gravity surveying capability. Q-CTRL is also driving forward the application of quantum computers and has paired with Transport for NSW and the Australian Army to improve logistics and transport solutions. Michael Hush completed his PhD in quantum physics at ANU, where he also won the University Medal for Theoretical Physics. Following his PhD came a research fellowship at the Research School of Engineering at ANU, a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Nottingham, and a research and teaching role in the School of Engineering and Information Technology at UNSW Canberra at ADFA.
