Julie Wainwright is a technology industry veteran, e-commerce pioneer, and brand management expert whose career spans more than 25 years. As a CEO for over 17 years, she was at the forefront of e-commerce as CEO of Reel.com in 1997, and Pets.com in 1999. She is a frequent speaker and presents at prestigious events and universities all over the country, most recently at Harvard University, Purdue University and CES. Recently, Julie was recognized as one of TechCrunch’s 40 Over 40, and one of the top female entrepreneurs by The San Francisco Business Times.
A former board member of Baker and Taylor, Wizards of the Coast, The San Francisco Art Institute, Magic Theatre and Headlands Center for the Arts, Julie was raised by artist parents and developed an early love of fashion and design. She graduated from Purdue University cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in General Management, and a minor in Art. She is passionate about beautifully made clothing and accessories and gravitates toward a minimalist aesthetic favoring clean lines and high, high heels! Her go-to designers include Lanvin, Balenciaga, Chloé and Louboutin.
