Gajen Kandiah is the Chief Executive Officer of Rackspace Technology (NASDAQ: RXT), where he is leading the company’s next chapter: becoming the definitive platform for enterprise AI at production scale, governed, secured, and built to run across private, public, and sovereign clouds. Gajen believes the AI race will be won or lost in the infrastructure layer. His mission at Rackspace is to give enterprises the confidence to move AI from proof-of-concept to mission-critical operations, without surrendering control, compliance, or choice. He brings more than 25 years of experience building and scaling technology platforms that deliver measurable outcomes in the world’s most demanding industries. Most recently, as President and COO of Hitachi Digital, he led the global AI strategy across industrial and enterprise portfolios. Before that, as CEO of Hitachi Vantara, he drove its transformation into a global leader in digital infrastructure, data management, and cloud solutions. Prior to Hitachi, Gajen spent over 15 years at Cognizant, joining when it was a $368 million company and helping scale it past $16 billion in annual revenue. As President of its Digital Business, he built the Digital Engineering practice to a $1 billion run rate in just 18 months, one of the fastest-scaling platform businesses in the industry. Earlier in his career, Gajen co-founded NerveWire, a management consulting and systems integration firm later acquired by Wipro, giving him founder-level instincts that have shaped his operating philosophy ever since. Gajen holds a Certificate in Harnessing AI for Breakthrough Innovation and Strategic Impact from Stanford University Graduate School of Business and is an alumnus of Harvard University Executive Education program and Royal College Colombo.
