uBiome’s mission is to transform the science of the microbiome into useful products and services that improve people’s lives. Our team of over 120 scientists and engineers has developed the largest dataset in human history of microbiome samples, and has six issued patents (75 published applications) on our technology, and over 20 peer-reviewed presentations and research papers. Our patented technique, precision sequencing™, allows us to get extremely high resolution of microbiome data using a combination of metagenomic- and marker-based sequencing.
We currently have three products in the market: 1) Explorer, a health and wellness tool to better understand how diet and lifestyle affect the microbiome as it changes; 2) SmartGut for patients with chronic gut conditions such as IBS, IBD, and Crohns Disease; and 3) SmartJane, a women’s health test that is the only test in the world to genotype all 19 strains of clinically relevant HPV, test for four common sexually transmitted infections (chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, and mycoplasma genitalium), and risk factors in the vaginal flora (e.g., bacterial vaginosis). Our laboratory is licensed under CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments) and accredited by CAP (College of American Pathologists). Only the top 3% of laboratories in the world have been accredited by CAP, which is viewed as the gold standard for laboratory governance.
Applying artificial intelligence, machine learning, and statistical genetics, to this largest database of microbiomes in the world, has allowed us to discover new associations and mechanisms of action of the human microbiome at an unprecedented rate. We are applying this new knowledge about the human microbiome to achieve immediate clinical utility, and broadly impact human health.
